Vitplex®

Laminated safety glazing units

Vitplex® is the historic V2S product family and includes the product ranges which have played a major part in establishing the company's reputation in terms of security and decorative properties.

Vitplex® products are for the most part conventional laminated or multi-laminated glazing units. They are produced by stacking alternating sheets of glass and films of polyvinyl butyral (PVB). Depending on the main characteristics that are being sought, the required thickness of PVB may be achieved by placing several films on one another. Adhesion between the polyvinyl butyral and the glass is achieved by means of thermal treatment under pressure. The role of the PVB is to maintain the glazing unit in place after an impact has broken the glass itself. The laminated glass then provides a residual level of protection.

The glass may be toughened or heat-strengthened before assembly. Laminated Vitplex® glass can be transparent, translucent or coloured (can be assembled using coloured glass or coloured PVB) and may include printed glass or any type of coated glass etc.

The Vitplex® family has recently been extended to include two new ranges of decorative products: Imag’In®, laminated glass with screen printing or printed images on the film, and LED’In®, laminated glass with built-in light emitting diodes (LEDs).
