Enhanced sound insulation
Insulation of the inside of buildings against noise has become a major design issue, due to the rapid growth in levels of both road and air traffic and to the development of urban highways. These sources of noise, like noise from railways, discotheques and neighbours, can result in inconvenience, discomfort, stress and even serious illness. Glazing and windows have an important role to play in reducing noise levels. They can also provide a degree of privacy in office, conference room or hospital applications.
Did you know that one person in every two in France (50.2%) say that they are affected by noise pollution?
- Damaging effects of noise on health: 43% of the population of France state that they experience discomfort from noise at home. This figure rises to 58% for residents of the urban Ile-de-France region and reaches 64% amongst Social Housing tenants.
- Noise is a cause of illness which affects 6 million people in France each year and is responsible for: 11% of accidents at work & 15% of working days lost.
- Sociological survey carried out by CSTB relating to satisfaction amongst individuals in France as regards external noise: "Unsatisfactory" 30.7% & "Very unsatisfactory" 19.5%.
