Bullet-resistant protection
A European classification exists for the definition of glazing unit performance in terms of protection against bullets. This is European standard EN 1063. This uniform classification is recognised in all European countries and is also a benchmark in many other countries throughout the world. This standard defines 7 classes of resistance for pistols and rifles/guns (BR1 to BR7) and 2 classes for shotguns (SG1 and SG2). In addition to this classification, glazing units must meet a requirement characterising whether or not there is glass fragmentation on the protected side of the glass. The classification number is therefore followed by an indication "S" if the glazing unit does not meet the protection test requirements (glass fragments occurs) and an indication "NS" if it meets the requirements (no fragmentation).
V2S offer two ranges complementary ranges which meet this bullet-resistance protection requirement
- AB®: the range of conventional multi-laminate glass which offers protection against gunshot with fragmentation.
- Stop’Eclat®: the range of multi-laminate glass composed of sheets of glass and of polycarbonate, which offers bullet protection without fragmentation.
