AB®
High performance bullet-resistant protection!
AB® is our range of bullet-resistant laminated safety glass. It meets the requirements relating to the protection of individuals against gunfire (hand guns, hunting rifles etc.) and has undergone the official testing in standard EN 1063 from class BR1 S to class BR6 S.
This classification relates to shots of various calibres, ranging from 22 LR to 7.62 NATO hard steel core, fired from a precision rifle. Another classification in the same standard is used to characterise the resistance of the glass to hunting rifle fire: SG1 & SG2.
The bulletproof characteristics of our AB® range are in addition combined with excellent intruder resistance.
All products can be manufactured from extra-clear glass on request, or combined with functional glass of the sunlight-control or fire-protection type.
Applications
- Banks, cash transfer access areas, currency exchange offices
- Service-stations, toll-booths
- Customs posts, checkpoints
- Police headquarters, police stations
- Airports, freight depots
- Museums
- Shop windows
- Private houses etc.
Installation
- We strongly recommend that glass which is to be fitted externally is fitted as insulating glazing. This is to prevent deterioration to bullet-resistance properties due to low or high temperatures.
- The bulletproof glass must be fitted in accordance with the standards and regulations that are in force. Glazing must always be fitted into frames of an equivalent class. The bullet resistance of window frames is indicated by their classification as FB or FSG (EN 1522 & EN 1523).
For example: Class BR4 bulletproof glazing must be fitted in a FB4 frame; SG1 or SG2 glazing must by fitted into an FSG classification frame. - Rebating of all four sides is mandatory.
- High performance bulletproof protection combined with excellent intruder resistance
- Very high optical quality (extra-clear)
- Excellent anti-UV characteristics
- High stability, durability
- Interior or exterior use
- Single glazing or assembled into insulating glazing
- Available in stock sizes or cut sizes
- Can be combined with other functions: enhanced thermal insulation, sunlight control, fire protection etc.

More about standard EN 1063
European standard EN 1063 defines the conventional test procedure used to achieve classification of glazing systems depending on their resistance to projectiles from firearms. It defines: the munitions used for the tests, the test conditions for the glazing as well as the criteria used to classify the glazing. Munitions are classified into seven classes (+ 2 for hunting guns) which correspond to classes of glazing of increasing resistance.| Class | Type of weapon | Calibre | Type | Firing distance (m) | Number impacts |
